FAQS

Your Questions Answered

Why Us?

At our clinic, we believe in a different approach to physical therapy, one that prioritizes your health and gets you back to your favorite activities faster. We focus on providing truly personalized, one-on-one care in every session.

Personalized & Consistent Care

  • Your treatment is always a collaboration between you and one of our of our Physical Therapist.

  • Abundant time spent with you. Every session is one-on-one and lasts a full hour.

  • You will work with the same therapist throughout your entire plan of care, ensuring a consistent and tailored approach without ever being doubled up with another patient.

  • Ongoing and supportive communication is maintained with you throughout your journey.

Efficient & Active Treatment

Our model allows us to be more efficient with your care than the standard corporate model. By focusing on direct, hands-on treatment combined with active exercise, we get faster results than passive treatments like heat or ice alone. Our goal is to quickly discover the source of your pain and create a targeted plan to fix it, so you can achieve lasting relief and return to your life with confidence.

Holistic & Preventative Approach

We're passionate about not just getting you out of pain, but also preventing future injuries. That's why we take a holistic approach to your health, addressing the root cause of your pain to promote long-term well-being and keep you active.

Do you accept insurance at your CD Physical Therapy?

At our office, we've chosen a cash-based model for physical therapy, which means we are considered out of network with all insurance companies. Instead of billing your insurance company directly, you pay for each session at the time of your appointment. Afterward, we can give you a special detailed receipt called a superbill. You can then submit this superbill to your insurance company, and they will reimburse you directly for a portion of what you paid.

Why We Do It This Way

We've found this approach gives you and your physical therapist the most freedom to focus on your recovery.

  • No Surprises: You'll always know the exact cost of your care upfront, so there are no surprise bills later on.

  • Tailored Care: Your treatment plan is decided by you and your physical therapist, not by your insurance company's limitations on the number of visits or types of treatment.

  • Focused Sessions: Your entire appointment is dedicated to one-on-one time with your therapist, so you get the most out of every session.

Do I need a prescription or physician referral to start physical therapy?

North Carolina permits Direct Access to physical therapy. This means you do not need to wait weeks for a prescription or a referral from your physician to begin treatment.

Because of this law, we are able to get you an appointment much quicker than other clinics, allowing us to treat your acute pain before it becomes chronic and more difficult to manage. You can call or text us to make an appointment and begin your journey to recovery right away!

What can I expect during my first visit?

During your initial evaluation, you can expect a comprehensive and personalized session dedicated entirely to you. Our goal is to listen to your story, understand your goals, and begin creating a clear path to recovery.

Detailed Conversation

Your session will begin with a conversation about your health history, current symptoms, and any specific goals you want to achieve. We'll discuss what brings you in and how your condition is affecting your daily life. We want to know what a successful outcome looks like to you.

Comprehensive Assessment

Next, your physical therapist will perform a hands-on assessment. This includes a movement analysis, strength and range of motion tests, and palpation to identify the root cause of your pain. We will use this information to determine a clinical diagnosis and create a targeted plan.

Your Personalized Plan of Care

Throughout your session, we will explain our findings and work with you to create a customized treatment plan tailored to your specific needs and unique schedule. To ensure your plan is as effective as possible, your physical therapist will carefully review all the information from your evaluation and send you a detailed plan with exercises within 24 hours.

This is also where our unique follow-up process begins. Your physical therapist will check in with you weekly to make sure your exercises are appropriate and to adjust your plan as needed without the need for an in-person visit. You and your therapist will then decide together when it's time to come in for your next appointment, ensuring you are only scheduling visits when you truly need them.

Transparent Pricing for Your Unique Goals

At CD Physical Therapy, we don't believe in one-size-fits-all care. Because every journey is different. From a quick athletic tune-up to a comprehensive evaluation for complex conditions, our fees vary based on the type of session you need.

You can view our full list of services and current pricing directly through our Online Scheduling Portal . We believe in total transparency, so you’ll know exactly what to expect before you even step through our doors.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept a variety of payment options to make the process as simple as possible. We accept:

  • Cash

  • Check

  • Debit/Credit Cards

  • Health Savings Accounts (HSA) or Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)

How It Works & Our Fees

Straightforward Pricing. No Surprises. No Referral Needed.

CD Physical Therapy is a cash-based practice and here is exactly what that means for you and your family. At CD Physical Therapy we do not bill insurance directly. Every session is paid at the time of your visit. In return, you get something most insurance-based clinics simply cannot offer, 60 uninterrupted minutes, one on one with your physical therapist, every single visit. No techs. No handoffs. No waiting.

Our Fees

Orthopedic & Sports Physical Therapy - $175 per 60-minute session

EDS, Hypermobility & Dysautonomia - $207 per 60-minute session

All evaluations and follow-up visits are the same rate. No hidden fees.

Does Cash-Based Actually Cost More? Let's Do The Math.

This is the question every family asks - and it deserves an honest answer.

The Insurance Model - What You Think You Are Paying

A $30 copay sounds simple. But here is what most families do not realize:

  • Most insurance plans carry a deductible of $1,000 to $3,000 per year

  • Until that deductible is met, you are paying the full visit rate out of pocket -  often $150 to $250 per visit at an in-network clinic

  • A typical orthopedic injury requires 10 to 12 visits at 2 to 3 times per week

  • At an insurance-based clinic, your 60-minute appointment slot is typically split between a physical therapist for 15 to 20 minutes and a tech or aide for the rest

  • Insurance controls how many visits you are approved for - not your physical therapist

The CD Physical Therapy Model - What You Are Actually Getting

  • $175 per visit, 60 minutes, one on one with Courtney - every single time

  • Because every minute is focused and intentional, most orthopedic patients complete their care in 3-4 visits rather than 12

  • 6 visits x $175 = $1,050 total

  • No deductible surprises

  • No referral delay - you get in faster and start healing sooner

  • HSA and FSA dollars apply, making out of pocket cost even more manageable

  • Superbill submitted to insurance for potential reimbursement

The bottom line: If your deductible has not been met, you may actually pay less at CD Physical Therapy than at an in-network clinic - while getting significantly more focused, expert care. And for patients with EDS, hypermobility, or complex conditions, getting the right care the first time is far less expensive than years of mismanaged treatment.
