PEACE & LOVE METHOD

Tired of the traditional RICE (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation) method for treating sprained ankles, groin strains, and hamstring pulls? Introducing the PEACE & LOVE Method, a newer, more effective approach to sports injury recovery.

What is the PEACE & LOVE Method?

Protect: Protect the injured area from further damage by limiting activities that cause pain.

Elevate: Raise the injured area above your heart to reduce swelling.

Assess: Evaluate the extent of the injury and seek medical attention if necessary.

Compress: Apply gentle compression to the injured area to help control swelling.

Educate: Learn about your injury and recovery process from a healthcare professional.

Load: Gradually increase activity levels as tolerated to promote healing and prevent stiffness.

Optimism: Maintain a positive outlook and believe in your ability to recover.

Voluntary exercise: Engage in low-impact exercises to improve strength, flexibility, and balance.

Early mobilization: Start moving the injured area gently as soon as possible.

Why choose the PEACE & LOVE Method?

Faster recovery: Studies have shown that the PEACE & LOVE Method can lead to quicker recovery times compared to the RICE.

Reduced pain: By focusing on active recovery & reducing inflammation, the PEACE & LOVE Method can help alleviate pain & discomfort.

Improved function: This method can help you regain full range of motion & function in your injured area.

Specialized Care for EDS and Hypermobility

How do I manage joint hypermobility without traditional stretching?

The answer is targeted, low-impact loading. Whether you are a young athlete or an active adult, we build a "muscle corset" to support YOUR unique connective tissue.

Moving Beyond "Traditional" Physical Therapy

If you have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) or Hypermobility Spectrum Disorder (HSD), you know that standard physical therapy protocols often don’t work and can sometimes make things worse. You don't need more flexibility; you need joint stability and proprioception to manage frequent subluxations.

To ensure you receive the most current, evidence-based care, Courtney is actively participating in the EDS ECHO Allied Health Professionals North America program. This global initiative connects her with leading experts to better understand the complexities of the "EDS Triad," including POTS and dysautonomia.

You aren't just a patient on a schedule, we are a team focused on your long-term function.

Our Approach to Hypermobility

We provide a specialized, 1:1 environment where we focus on:

  • Stability Over Stretching: We prioritize "closing the chain" and building the deep muscle strength required to keep your joints in place.

  • Proprioception Training: Teaching your brain to accurately "sense" where your joints are in space to prevent subluxations and micro-trauma.

  • Pacing & POTS Integration: Understanding that EDS often comes with understanding the unique challenges of the 'EDS Triad,' including managing exercise intensity for those also navigating POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome) and dysautonomia.

Post-Concussion & Vestibular Rehabilitation
Expert Support for Your Recovery Journey

Recovery is more than just resting in a dark room. We specialize in treating the "hidden" symptoms of concussion and vestibular dysfunction that often get overlooked. Together, we are a team focused on a proactive strategy to retrain your brain and body.

Our care includes:

  • Balance & Dizziness: Addressing the mismatch between your inner ear and your vision to help you feel grounded again.

  • Ocular Tracking: Retraining the eyes to move smoothly, reducing the headaches and "brain fog" often triggered by screen time or reading.

  • Neck-Related Issues: Treating the cervical spine components that can mimic or worsen concussion symptoms, ensuring a comprehensive recovery.
